5thSep2008 was the evening, Cullen Performance Hall @ University of Houston was the venue.
S.P.Balasubramanyam , along with Chitra and Shailaja and an upcoming artist SriKrishna, were live in Concert. Well, the concert was presented as a fund raiser for a Non-profitable organization called Vibha based in US. The cause was really noble because Vibha serves millions of under privileged children back home an internationally as well. The volunteers are really young and seemed to be quite honest in what they want to do.
SP Balasubramanyam needs no introduction , he is a great maestro.I would say that I am fortunate to see him live.
The program started with a brief introduction about Vibha then the Introduction of the artistes. SP Balasubramanyam was given a standing ovation. Chitra is very popular and she was cheered with lot of respect. SP Shilaja and Srikrishna were introduced as well.
The concert started with "Vande Mataram" sung by all the 4 artistes. The program then followed by SP.Shailaja singing "Om Namashivaya" from the greatest of great Sagara Sangamam. SP Shailaja appeared mediocre in this particular perfromance of the song.
SPB appealed the spectators not be very picky on the number of songs sung for each language. Since SPB has language barriers , his audiences will be really broad. People from Andhra Pardesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala , Gujarathis and some hindi speaking crowd was seen.
SPB appeared really cheerful and joyous mood. He perfromed very famous numbers like "Ade Neevu", "Enno Ratrulostayi gaani" etc.
Chitra was exceptional as usual, she is a such a great singer and yet very modest.
Srikrishna sang "Tuhire" from Bombay and he was promising. Shailaja presented "Nampally Station Kada". This was an awesome presentation. SPB and Chitra and other singers sung famous Tamil and Malayama numbers and 1 0r 2 Kannada songs.
The concert was culminated with the great hip-hop song of RajaniKanth fro Sivaji. The song was "Vallelakka". This was presented by all singers. With this song the cncert reache its peaks. Lot of people seen dancing and clapping.
Lot of people donated during the show and dedicated songs. Lot of people adopted schools(Shikshana program of Vibha).
Overall the show was really pleasant and melodious for a great noble cause.
